Two hundred eighth grade students from New York City Public Schools assemble to apply lessons learned from American social movements to emerging civil rights struggles. Speaker Christine Quinn will greet the students and then students present their Civil Rights campaigns to NYC community activists representing organizations such as Sustainable Flatbush, African Refuge, Do Something, the Brennan Center for Social Justice, Center for American Islamic affairs, Lambda Legal, and the Sikh Coalition. These activists provide students with suggestions for how they can take their campaigns to the next level.
